So many ideas are provoked from these. The picture of the sweets combined with the others got me thinking about Ariel as a very (well, at least more) warped version of Willy Wonka. Perhaps there's something within this idea that you can use. Roald Dahl was known for creating very scary adults within kid lit...and I think there's a lot more violent subtext within his work than he's given credit for. Where's Wonka within Ariel?
